Family Legacy Fitness & Martial Arts Supports the Inaugural Veterans Resource Fair in Manassas

There are moments in a community that remind you what really matters.

Not the trophies.
Not the titles.
Not the busy schedules or the distractions that pull families in every direction.

But people.

Real people coming together to support one another, share resources, build relationships, and remind each other that nobody should have to walk through life alone.

That’s exactly what we experienced at the Inaugural Annual Veterans Resource Fair hosted by Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger and the City of Manassas Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Board on May 16, 2026.

Held at Baldwin Intermediate School, the event welcomed veterans, active duty service members, families, caregivers, and community organizations from across the region. The goal was simple but powerful: connect people with support, encouragement, and resources that can strengthen lives.

At Family Legacy Fitness & Martial Arts, we were honored to participate as a vendor and connect with so many incredible members of our community.

Throughout the day, we met veterans who shared stories of service, sacrifice, leadership, and perseverance. We spoke with parents searching for positive outlets for their children. We connected with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and local families who all share a common goal: building a stronger future together.

And honestly, that’s what Family Legacy Fitness has always been about.

Yes, we teach martial arts.
Yes, we teach self-defense, confidence, fitness, and discipline.

But at the heart of our mission is something much bigger.

We believe strong communities start with strong families.

We believe confidence can change the direction of a child’s life.

We believe discipline learned in training carries into school, careers, relationships, and leadership.

We believe habits create legacies.

Many veterans we met at the event spoke about values like accountability, teamwork, respect, mental toughness, and resilience. Those same lessons are woven into every class we teach inside Manassas Mall.

Whether it’s helping a shy child gain confidence, encouraging a teenager to push through self-doubt, or helping adults reconnect with their health and purpose, we know these lessons matter far beyond the mat.

Events like the Veterans Resource Fair remind us that community involvement is not optional. It’s part of our responsibility.

As a locally owned business led by Tim Rook, our mission is not only to serve students inside our academy, but to actively support the people, schools, organizations, and families that make Manassas and Prince William County such a special place to live.

We want to thank Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger, the Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Board, all participating organizations, volunteers, veterans, active duty service members, and families who attended this meaningful event.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of it.

And to every veteran reading this:

Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Thank you for continuing to lead by example in our community.

At Family Legacy Fitness & Martial Arts, we will continue doing our part to help families grow stronger together, build better habits, and create a legacy that lasts for generations.
